It’s Here!! Our 2nd Annual Distracted Driving Prevention Poster Contest for Kindergarten to Grade 8 officially begins accepting submissions on February 15th, 2012.
On Feb. 6th the RCMP announced that February 2012 is Distracted Driving Awareness Month in BC. In January 2011, our 8-year-old daughter was injured in a preventable car crash; to help herself heal emotionally, she created some amazing drawings addressing distracted driving. Honouring Kylee, D.I.A.D. is continuing the tradition she inspired with our 2nd Annual Distracted Driving Awareness Poster Contest for Kindergarten to grade 8 students across British Columbia.
Although our presentations are primarily geared towards teens, young adults and established drivers, D.I.A.D. believes that this younger age group is in a unique position to share their feelings ‘unfiltered by social pressures’ about what they’re observing when travelling in the back seat.
We were awestruck at the response to our 2011 contest with more than 400 posters submitted from 15 communities across BC; these kids had something important to say about distracted driving and road safety. We’re thrilled to give them a chance to speak up again this year.
