Listen to what These Kids Have to Say About Road Safety

I couldn’t be more proud of the kids and schools who participated in our first Students 4 Safety  ‘Do the Right Thing’ Road Safety event in partnership with the Nanaimo RCMP. While not nearly old enough to drive yet, these amazing elementary school kids have a lot to say about road safety. Participating elementary schools were: McGirr, Brechin, Nanaimo Christian and Mountain View.

Kylee, 8 Years Old, Inspiration for Annual Poster Contest

In January 2011, our 8-year-old daughter was injured in a preventable car crash; to help herself heal emotionally, she created some amazing drawings addressing distracted driving. Honouring Kylee, DIAD is continuing the tradition she inspired with our new ‘Do the Right Thing’ road safety event for Kindergarten to grade 7 students.

Although many of our presentations are primarily geared towards teens, young adults and established drivers, DIAD believes that this younger age group is in a unique position to share their feelings ‘unfiltered by social pressures’ about what they’re observing when travelling in the back seat. We’re pleased to be able to offer a free elementary school education and awareness program.

Contact us if you would like to host an education program at your elementary school.

Let’s show them we’re listening to their road safety messages by leaving your supportive comments below.

Note: There were SO many amazing posters; please keep checking back for new posters.
