The Cost of Distracted Driving – A Father’s Eloquent Story About Losing His 16-year-old This powerful video from a father who lost his 16-year-old son to distracted driving is, in my opinion, a ‘must-see’ for just about everyone. “My first thought was to go in there and get him out…. From the time he’s been in this world, I’ve always taken care of him. If he’d fall down and scrape his kn [...]

Belgium Takes Radical Approach to Teaching Dangers of Texting While Driving I don’t know about you, but I think this should be mandatory viewing for all drivers…not just learner drivers. Having been nearly run off the road myself just yesterday by a distracted driver who was well beyond the Millennials, this is clearly an issue that goes beyond new drivers.

The Millenials: Entitled, Educated & Empowered Guest Post: Breanna Carey, Instructor, Young Drivers of Canada & D.I.A.D. Speaker Decoding the dangers of distracted driving may be obvious to some. It’s habitual to hop in a vehicle and put the seatbelt on; common knowledge that staying put if the vehicle should stop quickly is more desirable than face-planting the windshield. As my Mom [...]

Cell Phones and Driving: A Killer Combination Guest Post by Colleen Harding Talking or texting while driving is equivalent to being drunk behind the wheel When working for a personal injury law firm, you often get to witness a ton of legal claims against distracted drivers who caused auto collisions—many of which were talking or texting on their cell phones. In fact, studies from the Uni [...]

Canada & USA – Not So Different When it Comes to Distracted Driving Distracted driving is not merely a national problem, not for Canada and not for the United States of America. It doesn’t stop or start at the 49th parallel. The issue is not limited to age, race, religion, culture or language. Where there are vehicles on the road, there are bound to be distracted drivers. During a recent winter trip to top up [...]

Distracted Driving Prevention: Education & Advocacy

We deliver reality-based, interactive multi-speaker presentations throughout Canada about the dangers and consequences of distracted driving.

There are three forms of distraction: cognitive (mental); manual & visual, including texting, talking on hand-held devices, in-car passengers, adjusting music settings, eating, personal grooming, dressing/undressing, reading & allowing pets to travel on laps. All these activities contribute to taking eyes off the road and attention away from the demanding task of driving.

D.I.A.D.’s dynamic presentation is unlike anything else in Canada, delivering a powerful message with a combination of knowledge, personal experience, energy and humour.

D.I.A.D. Drop It And Drive works in partnership with the Surrey Fire Service; Young Drivers of Canada; the Surrey RCMP and with the support of Klein Lyons to deliver high energy, interactive talks.

Contact us to find out more information or to book a presentation at your school, college, university, community group, organization or corporation. Our elementary & high school presentations are 'NO FEE!' & fee-based sessions directly support those school presentations.
