Seatbelt Survival: Unrestrained Kids = Rockets Today’s post takes a slight detour from our main focus of distracted driving…although not completely unrelated. Picture a small child, three or maybe four years old standing behind a man who could be his father. The small boy is smiling with his arms wrapped lovingly around the man as he peers out the window peeking over the man’s shoul [...]

Distracted Driving ‘Killer’ Infographic “Driving distracted causes thousands of deaths and hundreds of thousands of accidents each year. Using cell phones while driving is an enormous problem and if we do not raise awareness and do something to stop it, the number of people killed or injured as a result of driving distracted will only increase every year. Make people aware of the d [...]

Distracted Driving Prevention – D.I.A.D. Year in Review Message from D.I.A.D. Founder, Karen Bowman: (Year End Report Below) What an amazing year!!! It was in September 2010 that the idea to create a distracted driving education program first began to form. This program is volunteer-driven and to date remains unfunded publicly or corporately. With the help of many supporters, we’ve reached t [...]

Tips for Dealing with Distracted Drivers When you see it happening all around you, it can make your blood boil, your fingers clench and that little blood vessel in your temple pulse….all signs that you may be about to become a part of the problem while trying to solve it. Kids Care About Distracted Driving – Part VI “Kid on Crosswalk” This Pacific Academy grade three student seems to accurately capture the reality too many kids are facing these days…safety on crosswalks. A well lit crosswalk with a stop sign isn’t enough to protect the crossing child from an oncoming SUV with a coffee drinking, cell phone talking, smoking driver behind the wheel. I particularly [...]

Please Promise Not To Use Your Cell Phone While Driving ~ Guest Post Guest Post by Karen B. Jones, Illustrator Web Site Blog Does anyone else know one of these walking contradictions? I’m talking about Moms who are so careful about their kids.  They baby-proof their homes until there’s nary a sharp corner or exposed outlet to be found.  They pull all the strings out of their kids jackets and hoodies.  They cu [...]

Distracted Driving Prevention: Education & Advocacy

We deliver reality-based, interactive multi-speaker presentations throughout Canada about the dangers and consequences of distracted driving.

There are three forms of distraction: cognitive (mental); manual & visual, including texting, talking on hand-held devices, in-car passengers, adjusting music settings, eating, personal grooming, dressing/undressing, reading & allowing pets to travel on laps. All these activities contribute to taking eyes off the road and attention away from the demanding task of driving.

D.I.A.D.’s dynamic presentation is unlike anything else in Canada, delivering a powerful message with a combination of knowledge, personal experience, energy and humour.

D.I.A.D. Drop It And Drive works in partnership with the Surrey Fire Service; Young Drivers of Canada; the Surrey RCMP and with the support of Klein Lyons to deliver high energy, interactive talks.

Contact us to find out more information or to book a presentation at your school, college, university, community group, organization or corporation. Our elementary & high school presentations are 'NO FEE!' & fee-based sessions directly support those school presentations.
