McKenna’s message to D.I.A.D. – “It’s good to know that you are doing distracted driving presentations because when I took Driver’s Ed. the subject was not even mentioned. I also like the way distracted driving is defined on the homepage of your site–a lot of people limit distracted driving to just texting, when it is so much more than that. When I have spoken and performed my song at local schools, often with Kassy Kerfoot’s mom as the featured speaker, I have seen the impact on the faces of the students. A presentation that is thoughtful, interactive, and emotionally connected lets the audience know that these are real people with families and not just numbers on a chart or pictures on a screen-and their stories need to be told.
Going into my senior year, I know how challenging it can be to catch and hold the attention of a group of teenagers, so I KNOW your presentations are connecting with your audiences. Thank you again for including my video and for posting it on your website. I am so happy that you came across my video and are sharing it in B.C. I look forward to working you.” McKenna
How Many More
Kassy was just eighteen on the day she died
No one would have ever thought she’d be a suicide
Put her finger on the trigger and held the phone to her head
Crossed the yellow lines into the hands of death
Now her family’s feeling torn apart, as thoughts of Kassy bleed from their hearts
What is so important that you have to say?
It’s not worth the life you are gonna change
Quit being selfish, you know you’re tempting fate
How many more have to die today?
Sorry can’t revive a lifeless child or replace the sight of his familiar smile
The life he had stolen away, everything destroyed in a day
Face the family left behind, how will you explain
Their needless loss for petty things, you’re obsessed with mindless texting
What is so important that you have to say?
It’s not worth the life you are gonna change
Quit being selfish, you know you’re tempting fate
How many more have to die today?
Where is your heart, what do you value in life?
Can you face a grieving father, a daughter, or a wife?
Save a life today, put down your phone
Be thankful for each time that you make it home
What is so important that you have to say?
It’s not worth the life you are gonna change
Quit being selfish, you know you’re tempting fate
How many more have to die today?
