10:30 – 11:00 DROP YOUR PHONE AND DRIVE ALREADY!

Yesterday we received a call on the open line from a listener who was-to put it mildly- distracted while driving. The caller hit a car while chatting with us on his cell phone. New research reveals that even hands-free devices in vehicles are very risky. Listening to an audio book, talking on the phone or responding to a voice-activated email system all significantly slows a driver’s reaction time. So what will it take for people like our caller yesterday to finally get the message that distracted driving is extremely dangerous? – KAREN BOWMAN, FOUNDER, DROP IT AND DRIVE™ BC

10:30 – 11:00AM: RAGE CAN BE A DISTRACTION ON THE ROADS

This weekend an elderly man was attacked in a road rage incident in Burnaby. A man was tailgating a senior citizen and when the elderly man pulled over to let him pass witnesses say that he punched the victim several times through the open window, before fleeing. Springtime seems to generate many more distracted driving and road rage incidents, as everyone seems in a hurry. Did you find yourself in a road rage or distracted driving incident this long weekend? What kind of behavior drives you crazy on the roads? – KAREN BOWMAN FOUNDER OF DROP IT AND DRIVE™ & TIM BAILLIE OF DROP IT AND DRIVE™
