The Great Multitasking Lie

The Great Multitasking Lie

Our thanks to the National Safety Council for creating this infographic explaining the myth of multitasking. It’s pretty safe to say that most people can handle chewing gum and walking at the same time; but those are not two independent cognitively demanding tasks.

When we ask our brains to tackle more than one cognitively demanding task it has to choose one or the other to primarily focus on. Regardless of whether the cell phone conversation while driving is hand-held or hands-free, it is still risky behavior.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about the points outlined in the below infographic.
