As more people discover Drop It And Drive (we now average 6,500+ hits/month – yeah!), the emails I receive get more and more creative and visually descriptive. This series titled “I Just Learned How to Text” was forwarded by a lower mainland Fire Fighter.
The doubters out there may ask, “How do you know the driver was texting?” Good question, I say. Based on digging around on the net for a while, I can’t directly link this accident to texting and driving. However, that does help ‘drive’ (pun intended) home the point of our presentations: distracted driving is NOT just about using electronic devices while driving. Chances are that this driver was distracted by something to have impaled their vehicle with the guardrail…don’t you think?
No matter what the reason, driver distractions are at the very least dangerous and in fact, distractions are all too often deadly. Keep eyes on the road and hands (not knees or elbows or your passengers’ hands) on the wheel.
