Message from D.I.A.D. Founder, Karen Bowman: (Year End Report Below) What an amazing year!!! It was in September 2010 that the idea to create a distracted driving education program first began to form. This program is volunteer-driven and to date remains unfunded publicly or corporately. With the help of many supporters, we’ve reached thousands of people across the globe.
Our unique, hard-hitting, and entertaining in-class presentations have directly impacted well over 1,000 teens. I’m grateful to the schools that allowed us the opportunity to reach out to their student body with this life-saving message.
My deep appreciation is extended to the Surrey Fire Fighters (Local 1271), Surrey RCMP and Young Drivers of Canada for their commitment to our program. Without you, what we accomplished would not have been possible.
I also want to thank the media who have continued to provide a platform for us to speak up about the dangers of distracted driving. You’ve helped us reach a much wider audience than would otherwise be possible.
As the new school year begins, I’m excited about the opportunities presenting themselves for us to continue to share our message and expand into more schools, communities and provinces.
